About
I’m Chris Henk. This is a project of mine to expand on the day to day discussions I have on engineering and management topics. Taking the time to sit down and write out your ideas refines them, and that’s what I’m looking to do here.
Why Ghastly Propositions? I’ve been told I have hot takes, but in reality they’re usually pretty tepid.
Content
The blog has 3 kinds of content:
- Posts
- Long form content links
- The Blognomicon
The Blognomicon is an index of technical and professional targets. It’s meant to group items by content as a short of table of contents. This makes it easier to reference material and share it, especially since the labels are dry whereas post titles often try to be “clicky”.
My Background
My current day job is systems engineering for the physical nodes powering Azure as a senior engineering lead at Microsoft. I was the dev owner of Azure IMDS before transitioning to running tented security and host re-architecture projects that I will be able to discuss publicly in late 2024.
These days I’m most interested in distributed systems, libraries, and bringing rigorous discipline to the software field so that we may one day take our place along side the real engineers.
I have M.S. in Computer Science from SMU where I specialized in Cybersecurity and Computer Architecture.
Some of my research projects included:
- Creating designs for high performance arithmetic circuitry to accelerate computer vision models
- Devising exploits for the
DOMINO
protocol concept to steal bandwidth in WiFi networks.
